I went to the physical therapist yesterday and while he manipulated my foot he said, “I didn’t know Covid was still a thing.” I said it was and I had tested positive the week before. I knew to test for it since I was panting to catch my breath. I couldn’t walk without pain since somehow, I was lucky enough to be part of the 15% of the population in which Covid inflames joints. Another friend hadn’t thought Covid was “much of a thing” either and shared it with me. Then my health care professional went on to say that he didn’t really believe in vaccinations.
Therapy sessions can be long (and seem even longer when my body is placed in an awkward stretch or strengthening position) with wide range of conversations to pass the time. On a different day my physical therapist shared with me his belief in the scientific hypothesis that life on Earth arrived from space, with "directed" specifying intentional seeding by an intelligent alien civilization. I am glad he is not my general practitioner. He is a fabulous physical therapist; my feet are 100% better since seeing him. We never talk about the weather.
